metabrain
Acronym:
MTB
The term metabrain (MTB) refers to one of four linearly organized components of the brain (BRN) as defined and segmented by dissection. The other components rostral to the MTB are the endbrain (EBR), interbrain (IBR) and midbrain (MBR); the other caudal to it is the medulla (MDL). The MTB has two parts, the pons (PON) and the cerebellum (CBL). The metabrain is derived for the most part, but not entirely, from the embryonic Metencephalon ( Carpenter-1983; Schiebler-1999 ).
