The term midbrain reticular nucleus refers to a composite structure in the rat brain. It consist of the magnocellular part of the midbrain reticular nucleus, the parvicellular part of the midbrain reticular nucleus, and the retrorubral area of the midbrain reticular nucleus ( Swanson-2004 ).
