infralimbic area
Acronym:
The term infralimbic area refers to a cytoarchitectonic area on the medial surface of the cerebral hemisphere in and the rat ( Swanson-1998 ) and the mouse ( Paxinos-2001 ). It is located near the genu of the corpus callosum, ventral to the prelimbic area and dorsal to the dorsal peduncular area. Functionally it is part of the visceral cortex in rodents ( Swanson-2004 ).
