The term stem of the lateral fissure refers to the rostral-most portion of the lateral fissure where the frontal lobe and the temporal lobe come together and rostral to sites where other sulci, rami and limbs join the lateral fissure. In the human these include the anterior horizontal limb of the lateral fissure (human), the anterior ascending limb of the lateral fissure (human) and the posterior limb of the lateral fissure ( Ono-1990 ).
