The term area 14 of Mauss refers to a subdivision of the insula of the macaque and the guenon; it is defined on the basis of myeloarchitecture. Mauss regarded it as homologous to the cytoarchitecturally defined area 14 of Brodmann ( Mauss-1908 ).
