core of the auditory region
The term core of the auditory region refers to one of two components of the auditory region in the superior temporal gyrus; the other component is the belt of the auditory region. It is a composite structure consisting of two cytomyeloarchitecturally defined cortical areas in the superior temporal gyrus of the rhesus macaque: area Kam of Pandya and area Kalt of Pandya ( Pandya-1973 ).
