area Pro of Seltzer (Pro)

The term area Pro of Seltzer refers to an area of cerebral cortex that occupies the temporal pole in the macaque. Defined on the basis of cytomyeloarchitecture it is proisocortex whose defining features are a predominance of the internal pyramidal layer (V) and the multiform layer (VI) with faint demarcation between those layers, and "scarcely visible cells" in layer VI ( Seltzer-1978 ).
