Paleothalamus

The term Paleothalamus denotes a composite substructure of the thalamus based on comparative anatomy. It is found in lower vertebrates. The primate homologue is believed by some authors to include the midline nuclear group and a portion of the intralaminar nuclear group ( Carpenter-1983 ).
