area 2 of Brodmann (human) refers to a subdivision of the cytoarchitecturally defined
postcentral region of
cerebral cortex . In the
human it is located primarily in the
caudal portion of the
postcentral gyrus and the
rostral lip of the
postcentral sulcus with a
caudal extension along the
intraparietal sulcus . Cytoarchitecturally it is bounded rostrally by the area 1 of Brodmann (
human ) and caudally by the area 5 of Brodmann (
human ), the area 7 of Brodmann (
human ) and the
area 40 of Brodmann (
human ) (
Brodmann-1909 ).
