postpiriform transition area
Acronym:
The term postpiriform transition area refers to a transition zone at the boundary between the amygdala and the cerebral cortex in the human ( Mai-1997 ), the macaque ( Paxinos-2009a ) the rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and the mouse ( Dong-2004 ). It is between the amygdala and the piriform cortex rostrally and the entorhinal area caudally. (In the human and the macaque the piriform cortex and entorhinal area are parts of the anterior parahippocampal gyrus.) Updated 26 May 2024.
